PhysX doesn't improve performance at all usually, and when it does, it's like a 6 FPS bonus.

What GPU are you using? With Nivida, you need an SLI bridge (Technically there are other ways to make Nvidia cards work cooperatively, but most games dont support). If AMD, newer cards run though the motherboard so you will be fine.

I want to build something like this but instead of the radiators 2 GPUs.

You're gonna need an SLI bridge unless you plan on exclusively playing DX12 games.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

PhysX is a waste, more the pity. You can use two cards in a system without SLI, but the only to power a sperate screen from each card.

To combine them, you need SLI or a DX12 game specifically coded to use multiple adapters.

Radeon cards can Xfire over the pcie bus on Dx11, but if you can afford dual 1080s, you're looking at a huge performance cut going the AMD route right now.
