I've been thinking of building a desktop for a while and I have just been blown away at what is in the market and what products to look at that it has been nearly impossible to figure out what to buy. I have $600 USD that i can put towards a desktop, but i do make money every so often so a easy to upgrade setup would be great. Thank you for reading my very weak plea for help

I get it, but I see no point in getting an i3-6100 only to later get a i5-6500. Why not just get the i5 today?

I understand the upgradability argument is valid, but I strongly feel that its relevance is lower than the LTT people like to make it look like.

 

As for which will last longer (FX or i3), the FX with more cores will still be fine as games become able to handle more threads.

Yeah, pretty similar to my idea except I think it would be easier to start with a boot SSD and add a HDD later so that you don't have to reinstall stuff
