Windows 10 or Windows 7?

Hi, Currently I'm having a problem choosing between windows 10 and windows 7 for my new build, I am currently using a windows 7 OS and it got upgraded to windows 10 automatically without me doing anything awhile back, when this happened my sounds got bad like you can't hear them properly and it would be static and because of this I did a system restore which eventually fixed that and went back to windows 7.

 

Right now this new build of mine will just be for gaming and with the upcoming DX 12 games it would be hard for me to pick windows 7 which I like better than windows 10.

 

My concern right now is the quality and performance of windows 10 right now, I would like some feedback if there are any issues and problems with it right now since it has a lot of negative reviews but has DX 12.

No, I'm just planning on having an AMD build when Zen and Vega comes out in 2017, regardless of performance.

Also should add that Windows 7 support ends in 2020. Thats only a few years away.

The only Windows 10-only games are Microsoft-published games, and you can count them on one hand. Nobody else is making Windows 10-only games, and Microsoft is only making Windows 10-only games in order to try to push people to using Windows 10. By nature, there isn't such a thing as a "Windows 10 exclusive." Also, Microsoft's personally-published Windows 10-only games have a history of becoming available for all Windows versions, after a bit of time: http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/10/12423352/quantum-break-steam-release-date

 

Also, be aware that any Microsoft Windows 10-only game is only available on the Windows Store for the duration of their timed exclusivity to Windows 10. And Microsoft's Windows Store games are heavily locked-down with UWP, and buying a game with UWP is like borrowing a game, because there will come a time when it needs work-arounds, or community fixes to work, and those things won't be possible, because the whole purpose of UWP is that owners of a product can't access the product's files to modify them in any way. Basically, UWP games have expiry dates.

 

 

For gaming in general, I think that Windows 7 is the much better option, as it has the widest compatibility with both old and new programs and games, isn't vulnerable to automatic updating and data-sharing while you're playing an online game (Windows 10 is), is all-around much more stable than Windows 10, and it also has support for Vulkan, which is likely to become the games industry's standard for low-level hardware communication that results in increased game performance.

The free upgrade offer has expired - unless you are disabled, and then there is a free-upgrade avenue still available for people who use special assisted technologies.

What are special assisted technologies? I heard I can still upgrade even though I don't have them.

exactly so many of my customer randomly get a broken boot after a failed Windows 10 major update.... not good. !

Yeah, that if you took the free upgrade offer. I did with my Windows 7 key. However, if the key was not used during the free upgrade offer, then you cant use it for Windows 10. Thats what the free upgrade offer was. It was for people to convert their keys over so they would have a Windows 10 license.
