What 120mm fan should i get

Hello I was searching for a 120mm fan to put at the bottom of my case to improve the air flow of my pc but i came across static pressure fans and air flow fans, my situation is that if i put a fan there, it looks like my hhd and gpu would blocking the airflow, in this case do I get a static pressure fan or a airflow fan. Will a static pressure fan be able to move air through this obstruction, is that how a static pressure fan even work?

Well are your temps bad? if they aren't too bad you probably don't need one

high pressure is for heatsinks, for anything else you'll want high airflow

In any case, get fractal design venturi 140mm fans, you can convert them to 120mm fans, high flow one though of course, kind of pricey

It seems like a fan more oriented towards airflow or a balanced design would fare the best,

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

I get atleast 40 c when idling and 70 c when im playing a game like dota, they're pretty bad i guess :/ im not sure since I don't know much. Also how do you convert a 140mm fan to a 120mm fan.

I live in New Zealand I don't usually go to any pc stores so I don't know much other than pbtech, and I don't know how much I should be spending on a case fan.

70C is fine, but for NZ ya just get any old 120mm fan that's decent and cheap, mostly look at noise and it's CFM rating, overall anything is probably fine

wait really?, I've been getting fps drops down to like 30 in dota when my fan goes crazy loud. Before upgrading to a gtx 970 my gtx 750 sc had some fps drops but it wasn't as bad as it is now.

What's your CPU? nvidia cards throttle at like 80C, you could also just crank up your GPU fan speeds

shouldn't be dropping that low, what's your CPU temps?

Also setting in dota? might just be that they're far too high

My cpu temp on dota 2 is around 70c and i even tried setting all the graphics to the lowest and it still drops down to 30fps

Check your CPU usage in the resource monitor for windows and set -dx9 in the launch options

Yeah, i need better air flow for my cpu, I wanted to install a fan on the bottom so there would be airflow going through the cpu, and right now i don't know whether the air would get blocked by my gpu and my hhd or not (probably would get block) in that case what can I do?

Wait you're on a 120mm AIO, an extra fan might help, but it's really probably not going to do much, the best thing you could do for temps is just back off any CPU overclock you have, or possibly replace your thermal paste if you have some lying around

Or what's the fan on the radiator? I assume the one that came with it?

I haven't overclocked anything, I don't know how everything works so i didn't want to risk overclocking, I don't have any thermal paste or anything to clean the old one off, and the radiator fan is the stock cm seidon 120v plus fan, should i replace it, is it a good fan?

Should be fine, You could try using speedfan or something to set it to 100% and see if that improves your temps, or you could try undervolting your CPU, it might be able to handle 4ghz at 1.350V for example

Here's a guy with the same hardware

I can't control my fan speed on speedfan for some reason, I have a gigabyte ga-970a-d3p mobo, I think that's the problem.

If i get a pwm splitter, because my board only has one pwm slot, will i be able to still control the two fans seperately even though the pwn is splitted.

yes, but depending on the wattage on the fans it might be too much for a single port, usually not an issue, Best thing for fan control is just a hardware controller, not sure on your availability though

I have basically a hyper 212 + one of those high pressure Venturi 140mm fans and my CPU doesn't seem to break like 60C on an OC to 4.4ghz at 1.4xxV

if you live in a hot area you might just need a better cooling solution

Idle temps don't really matter and 70c is low. You don't need another fan.

If your cpu temps are high, I would try reseating the cooler. It's exhausting out of the case, right?
