Hey guys so i just thought about a few questions about system restore. I know when a HDD/SDD is about to run out of space it would delete old restore points or even all of them and this bought a couple of questions to my mind.

1. I know you can setup all drives you have to use system restore but is it really with having any other drive but the system drive use system restore?

2. I know you can setup how much space system restore is allowed to use but is there a way to choose where it can store the restore file for it? Possibly on another HDD to save SSD space?

3. If i run disk cleanup, while its collecting data does it automatically erase old system restore points? I know it sounds like a silly question but as i booted it it seemed to have got rid of all my old ones.

4. If i custom make a restore point (before i install something incase something goes wrong) How can i tell how much space it takes on a drive?

1: only the system use system restore, using other drives only gives more space to record old images

2: no you can't decide where to put it

3: C cleaner do not clean system restore unless you customize it to do it.

4: less than 1Go.

 

tip : if you are short on system space and are trying to win space, you have some choices :

-yes shorten the space allowed to system restore to the minimum (anyway it's really rare that you choose to restore prior than the last point) 

-deactivate indexation of files

-if you're using an hard drive, try to defrag it

-delete old user files in C/Windows/User/ (yourself)/ Appdata/common / old programs you removed only

-delete old user files in C/Windows/User/ (yourself)/ Documents / saved games (often these become heavy)
