New headphones

I am looking for a pair of portable headphones that sound great and are less than $350. Noise cancelling is not a must and I do not really know what sound sig I like because this will be my first pair of good headphones. If an amp is required that would be included in the budget. Since I am going to be using them on the go I am looking for a closed back around ear design that is really comfortable. I was looking at the M50X or the Bose QC35, any other suggestions?

I'm not an audiophile nor do I know much about audio.
But from my personal experience I can recommend the Sennheiser Urbanites. They're pretty comfortable and look nice. Sound, as far as I can tell, is great.
They are at least worth a consideration.

I listen to classic rock and I care more about highs and mids and I said in the topic I would like closed back around the ear headphones.

These seem really good reviews on multiple websites. I mainly look into gaming headphones, but these seem like they should serve you well.

B&W being recommended. 

Harman and fucking Kardon? Seriously? 

 

Qc35 are great if you want anc which is also really freaking great if you travel a lot and/or are in noisy places.

M50x are like m40x just a little more overpriced. 

Not sure if Oppo Pm3s match your budget wherever you live? 

Next to these I'd also recommend the ath msr7 which btw are listed in the recommended gear thread that sticks on top of the audio subforum.

HK has literally 0 over ear headphones while B&W has 1 which apparently is actually quite good (P7) but that still doesn't make it generally recommendable imo.

What about some AKG headphones, like the K553

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...
