5.1 Surround.

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

Thanks guys really helped.. :D and I will ask @ShearMe xD

Lel, you didn't have to PM me.

The Pioneer SE-A1000, like many have already suggested, is a great option for those looking for cheapish open headphones. They don't sound cheap, build is nice, and comfort isn't bad once you make a quick and easy modification. Here's a thread comparing their sound to HD650's and images showing the mod: http://www.head-fi.org/t/670454/pioneer-se-a1000-appreciation-club-sennheiser-hd-650-for-45

Ok, so I've never listened to music through a sound card or with surround 5.1 or 7.1 or anything along those lines, I'm a complete noob effectively.

BUT I would really love some recommendations for sound cards and headsets/headphones that use 5.1 xD Budget.... around £50 for the sound card and £100 for headphones/headset. :D

well for one there is a distinct lack of music that is available in 5.1 or greater format I think you can get dark side of the moon and... well that's the only one that comes to mind.

if it were me I'd sink all the money into a great headphone aimed at the music or sound you like

I don't think I could ever recommend a 5.1/7.1 headphone.

from the uk about all I could recommed would probably be sennheisers HD5xx series

and I don't think @ShearMe would hesitate to recommend pioneer se-a1000's

Will work for electronic components and parts

For the sound card, look for the Asus Xonar that is the closest to your budget, they usually are great cards!

And for the headphones, just go for a good pair that is made for listening to music, like the Shure SRH440, it's a great headset that isn't for gaming but while playing, I can spot opponents just by listening and dayum dem explosions (!!!), wich make them better than any 7.1 gaming headsets!

Didn't we just have a discussion on how 'Surround 5.1/7.1' is complete trash jargon? This is because your brain is the one that processes what you hear, not your ears so having 5 different sound sources won't make a difference.

Grab a good pair of 2.1 headphones instead  :)

There's always Razer Surround for free :)

Ewwwwwwww razer surround :P

I don't use surround but essentially it works and it's free so why not :P

Better to go with Audiophile headphones & Virtual surround than... 'gaming' headsets with inflated bass and 5/7 small, bad drivers  ;)

Which is your budget :P Their MSRP is $150, so you're still getting a good deal.

As far as the SteelSeries Flux In Ear Pros go, I've had them and didn't like them - they sound like just about any gaming headset out there. I did like the JBL J33's while i had them, if you want to consider IEMs, and I'm sure others have IEM recommendations better than the SteelSeries.

In ear earphones I don't like D: they always fall out of my ears no matter what size in ear bits I get :| very frustrating :)
