5.1 Surround.

Ok, so I've never listened to music through a sound card or with surround 5.1 or 7.1 or anything along those lines, I'm a complete noob effectively.

BUT I would really love some recommendations for sound cards and headsets/headphones that use 5.1 Budget.... around £50 for the sound card and £100 for headphones/headset.

well for one there is a distinct lack of music that is available in 5.1 or greater format I think you can get dark side of the moon and... well that's the only one that comes to mind. 

 

if it were me I'd sink all the money into a great headphone aimed at the music or sound you like

I don't think I could ever recommend a 5.1/7.1 headphone.

from the uk about all I could recommed would probably be sennheisers HD5xx series

 

and I don't think @ShearMe would hesitate to recommend pioneer se-a1000's

For the sound card, look for the Asus Xonar that is the closest to your budget, they usually are great cards!

And for the headphones, just go for a good pair that is made for listening to music, like the Shure SRH440, it's a great headset that isn't for gaming but while playing, I can spot opponents just by listening and dayum dem explosions (!!!), wich make them better than any 7.1 gaming headsets!

Better to go with Audiophile headphones & Virtual surround than... 'gaming' headsets with inflated bass and 5/7 small, bad drivers

They don't sound cheap, build is nice, and comfort isn't bad once you make a quick and easy modification. In ear earphones I don't like D: they always fall out of my ears no matter what size in ear bits I get very frustrating
