Hello Everyone,

I plan on buying the HTC Vive in near future but first i want to make sure  i am VR Ready. I am currently running a amd fx 6100 series cpu and GtX 660 GPU.I plan on re-using my SSD and PSU and the case. I have a good idea what i want to buy since i read these forums everyday but before i purchase i just want your  thoughts on the cpu and the MB. So to get started i plan on getting a I7-6700k (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559) and a GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0)  MB ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W03VR9011). I am not worry about CPU as much as i am the motherboard and what i really want to know is do you guys think there is any better alternatives  to this MB for this price?

Edit: My worrys are i just dont want to see MB fail in a year.

I really like the asus mobo although customer service is a bit iffy unless you can speak cantonese or madarin like i can - then i just hit up taiwan customer support and don't bother with the horrible us lines.

other than that, just get the gigabyte it's really good value for the money

Looks fine, the gaming 7 board has decent reviews all around, so it would be fine.

Are we you going to upgrade the GPU?

That is a hella overkill MoBo my friend

$200 is steep indeed, but you do get quite some quality for that money.

and it's not like there's many cheaper alternatives in the Z170 market anyways ;)

The gaming 5 and the MSI M5 are decent alternatives for less that also fit the same red theme.

Of course getting a gtx 1070

I would consider getting a 150 USD board and a 1080, but if you can't afford it even with that just get the 1070.
