Is the PNY CS1311 a good choice instead of the Samsung 850 EVO?

I am building a gaming pc within the next month and I was wondering is the PNY CS1311 (120gb) a good option for a boot-up drive? My friend has the Samsung 850 EVO which I know is a good SSD but im looking for ways to reduce the cost of my pc in some areas.

The CS1311 is somewhat slower, but still totally usable. If there's a significant price difference it's a good place to save some money.

OCZ Trion 150 and Adata SP550 are very similar options that you may also want to keep an eye on.

Honestly for boot up just get whatever is cheap, as long as you have a good back up hdd drive.

The reason an SSD is important to MOST people is because SSDs have significantly lower latency than HDDs. That much lower latency is fairly similar between ALL SSDs. What differs between SSDs is read/write speeds and in this case, what really differs is write speeds -- which only matter if you're writing large files from another equally fast source.

It wouldn't be better than the 850 evo, though it would work fine.

The only programs i would think about putting on the SSD is maybe something like Adobe After Effects but its unlikely

Well probably wont make a difference but the Samsung 850 are rated for very high use and have a good warranty. Keep that in mind when buying parts. But I doubt the other drive will be bad but the Samsung will be better.

You will only notice the difference if you're looking for it, and the CS1311 is a good buy for an SSD.
