I've installed my new 1070.

im trying to put this 8 pin splitter into the top but it just will not go in. If I pushed any harder in it the graphics card will snap...

ive also tried removing the graphics card and it will not budge...The clip holding it in is all the way down and I seriously cannot get the card to come out...

Why are you using a splitter? Don't use splitters.

Unplug it, try again while wiggling it around a bit and holding the clip open.

-moved to troubleshooting-

like @Enderman said, pull it out, slowly plug it back in while slightly moving the plug itself, sometimes the pins in the cables are a bit loose and might not align correctly.

That's not working. Is it okay for me to just plug two 4 pin connectors into the one 8 pin connector?

It should work, like I said, sometime the pins aren't aligned correctly like in the picture below;

The 4+4 pin connector is not PCIe, it is EPS, for the motherboard.

If you plug that into the GPU you will have it explode and your PC will die.

exact

@ShaunOfNintendo the PCIE connector should be 6+2, not 4+4. It's shouldn't work anyway since they are keyed. and like @Enderman said, might damage your GPU since the positive and neutral wires are "reversed" (sending 12v down the "ground" is never a good idea!!!);
