It doesn't have great single-threaded performance and generally an i5 is better for gaming.

5 year old cpu that has problem competing with old i5 from intel. At 1080p resolution it is very mediocre.... If u can upgrade within 2 years then fine it will serve u well for the money u spent on it.

480 / 1060 is highest i would go.

Connection200mbps / 12mbps 5Ghz wifi

Note though: Don't totally regret your purchase. It's cheaper than most i5s too though not to mention it can be overclocked, so if you ever want more CPU performance just grab a decent cooler and you can probably get to around 4.7 4.8 ghz. As well, because of the more cores the fx 8350 is usually better for multi-threaded tasks like video editing and streaming. That's not to mention that with dx12 and vulkan coming games should be able to take better advantage of the 8 cores of the fx 8350.

It means 980ti is beast of a GPU that can run games at 120fps at 1080p with max settings but your FX processor wont be able to keep up and therefore u will only see 90-100fps in the best case. It can het lot uglier tham that and your minimum fps can dip down to 60 depending on game.

If u have 1440p monitor tge bottleneck will be less of an issue but u would be spending money on performance your system cant deliver.

Get 980 instead.

U can but by the time u upgrade (2018) the 980ti will be irrelevant... Pascal came out July. Nvidia already talking about Volta for Q2 2017..

PS. If u are eyeing for some good deal on 980ti then fine no problem if it makes sense moneywise.

Ok. Thanks. What would you suggest for a GPU. I am used to about 8 - 15 fps on low settings so anything will be an upgrade.

Gtx 1060 6GB will give u 60fps on high settings so will RX480. U can check benchmarks on youtube and u can also look up for specifoc combo FX8350 + GTX 1060 / RX480 to see what u get.

If you're looking for something on a budget that you can squeeze some extra mhz out of your CPU with you might want to look at a hyper 212 evo or a Cryorig H7. If you are looking at a high performance cooler that you can keep for your next CPU too you can look at the  Noctua nh d-15 or something like a Corsair h100i. The noctua has nearly as good performance while being much quieter but it also is kind of ugly IMO. The h100i looks better and performs slightly better but is louder too.
