so i couldnt figure which this topic went under (cpu/mobo or graphic cards) but i don't understand how a bottleneck works. In gta 5 my cpu (i5 6500) is at around 37-50% and my gpu (EVGA 750 ti sc) is at around 4-16% how can i tell whether my cpu or gpu is bottle necking each other?

Ah, right. Missed that.

Well anyway, there's no bottleneck per se because this isn't normal usage for either the CPU or the GPU. Was there anything that was done beforehand to attempt to fix this like updating drivers?

Sounds like an issue elsewhere since neither component is at 100%.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that CPU is miles ahead of the GPU. However as others said based off what you're experiencing it's not a bottleneck. Also for the record, I'm pretty sure even a 6GB GTX 1060 wouldn't bottleneck your CPU. So that should give ya an idea of what sort of upgrades you can do in the future.

Is it just GTA V or does anything else have this problem?

i from what i know it might me just gta v or others. I played csgo and got 200fps+ and for usage they were both at around 76% together. oh btw for gta V it's capped out at 31fps for some odd reason

Well it looks like you solved it. But I do have a theory as to why it might dip to < 20%. You're capping your VRAM, and if the video card wants something not in VRAM, it's going to have to go either to RAM or the storage drive. In either case, it's going to have to wait. The CPU usage is also pretty high throughout, but I don't think that's completely it.

so, i should turn down my settings right? to give it some breathing room? because i, fine with turning it down, this was the recommended settings from Nvidia optimal settings

The ones that are the biggest hitters to VRAM in that game are texture quality, shadow quality, MSAA, and resolution.

my res native is 1280x720, but it cuts off my screen, for some reason the gpu isnt adjusting to the right resolution, right now it's at 1176x664. but none the less i'll be getting a new monitor around black Friday and or Boxing day. got any ideas why it doesn't adjust?

:/ sorry for asking wayy to many questions

What's the model of the monitor? It'll be better if I know that so I don't have to ask you a ton of questions about its specs. :)

The actual resolution of that monitor is 1366x768. If you were forcing it to 1280x720 then the video card may have been adding letterboxing.

yeah.... no luck, the screen gets cut by the monitor. the one i have now is the only one that fits

sorta
