Windows 10 insane RAM usage..?

Evann
Go to solution Solved by twalls,

Just out of curiosity, what make/model of network card do you have installed?

I just got done dealing with a very similar issue. 16 GB of RAM filling up on a new Win10/Skylake build. Was very frustrating. MSI uses a Killer Networking NIC on this board. There was a terrible memory leak in the version of the driver/software that MSI is providing. Installed the latest version from Killer's site, and the memory leak is gone. It was especially bad when downloading a bunch of stuff (Steam, etc.), but I could leave the computer on for a day and not logged in, only to find the RAM was low when logging in the next day.

Worst part was that the amount of RAM in use in the Task Manager didn't add up to the 16 GB reportedly in use. Open Resource Monitor and go to the Memory tab. List the top processes there, and it might be more helpful.

Hey,

can someone explain this? I have 16GB RAM installed, right now only Chrome and 2-3 other programs (definetly not RAM intensive) opened.

This is a Screenshot of the whole User usage.

here another Screenshot.

there is nothing like windows Updates running right now, what is this? Thanks :)

Stop the suspect application and reboot.  It's been like that for days because you never stopped the problem.

and what is the suspect Problem? Battle.net? It is not even in autostart. I literally have nothing except drivers in Autostart.

You're going to have to do some trial and error type testing on your end bud.  We're not sitting at your computer. :D

Maybe your network card? Seems like your networking might be flooding the ram, hence chrome.

Don't restart your PC.

Fast Start will prevent your PC from doing several things.

Shut down your PC, wait 5 seconds and then turn it back on.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Also,

If I didn't know any better, I'd say that one of the programs on your PC is updating itself.

under settings search for background apps and there will be a list of apps (basically a startup)

you can tick them all off to save some ram! :D

Actually this really only impacts startup time. Not RAM since you can still open each program after startup.
