Microsoft Security Essentials vs 360 Total Security (or both?)

Go to solution Solved by r4tch3t,

MSE is fine it's what I use people just don't like Microsoft. The problem these days is any viruses etc that you're likely to get are zero day, so an anti virus won't help.

Best way to protect your system it's keep it up to date.

You shouldn't run 2 as they can interfere with each other causing problems.

Unfortunately due to using secure connections everywhere (a good thing) anti virus programs can't even scan traffic workout compromising your system making it easier to infect see Avast for example.

To be honest I'd trust MS more than almost any anti virus company.

Self-explanatory in the title above. Please do not suggest any other anti virus programs.

Jokes aside. Which one is more robust against viruses and takes it easy on the random access memory modules?

I don't even know who 360 is

AV Comparaties doesn't even list them

only tests I found was on AV-Test.org: https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-8/june-2016/qihoo-360-360-antivirus-5.0-162214/  - it seems decent

So, which one do you suggest? MSE or 360?

MSE is utter shit

Alright then, I think I made my choice. But wait, can I run BOTH at the same time?

It's not a joke.

And MSE takes less resources by far. You won't need 360 if you use an adblocker and don't download files from untrusted sources though.

Ok, @zMeul suggest I go with 360 Total Security while you suggest I go with MSE. I need a third person or another reason why one is superior than the other.

Thank you, I guess I'll go with Microsoft Security Essentials then. :)

MSE is so good.

"A virus has been detected. Removing..."

(goes to logs)

"Last virus detected: 19/09/2016, current date 24/09/2016"

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux
