Hi guys just wanted to double check something, the technicians at my school asked what antivirus i had because they were allowing my laptop onto the school network and when i told them i had AVG 2014 they said that i should get rid of that and install microsoft security essentials. I just stood there and agreed as i didn't was to start a debate with 4 other technicians in their office. But my understanding was, is that AVG is a lot better. I haven't installed Microsoft Security Essentials and i have no intentions of doing so.

So back to the point Microsoft Security Essentials is not better than the full edition of AVG 2014?

Cheers

Ed

Microsoft Security Essentials is NOT a better antivirus than AVG.

Although at one point MSE was able to hold it's own, it has now become quite low on the list of AV for protection.

I would definitely NOT uninstall AVG for MSE, I suggest you show the technician this website

That website is pure bullshit. It puts MS Security Essentials as the single worst antivirus yet on every single review it's always on the top 5 free anti-viruses. And Norton is in front of Avast! LOL

And OMFG, it says on w8 that AVG FREE provides MORE security than THE PAID VERSION! LOOOOOOOOL

Do you even realise how ridiculous that is? That's like the shittiest anti-virus review website on the entire internet. They actually have the balls to claim that the paid version of a AVG comes with less protection than the free version! WTF?

Please do not show anyone this website! You might kill them with laughter.

That website is unbiased, taking a lot of testing to release the data in the graphics, if it says the paid version is worse, then IT IS WORSE.   If you want to believe it or live substituting reality with your own, that is entirely up to you of course.

And MSE is now the worst antivirus, several sites have published apologies for recommending it, because they just assumed that it was working as when it was first released, but it had gone worse and worse with every update, until now that is barely qualified as an antivirus.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

I'm so sorry, how could I have not seen this?! Microsoft paid AVG to make their paid version worse in w8 so MSE would look better in comparison! It is all clear now, I can't thank av-test enough, it really opened my eyes.. There's only one thing we can do now, we must unite and walk into AVG's office demanding them to stop selling out those who choose to pay for their anti-virus! M$'s grasp is powerful but we can do it if we stand together!

Actually you can march there and demand that the same team makes both versions, because the team making the paid version is obviously screwing up.   Or maybe not, because software companies NEVER make mistakes, right?

Mystery is the source of all true science.

AVG

MSE (Micro Security Ess.)

AVAST!

(Maybe Nortan)

are all pretty good and have a very fair even good filed of security. It gets to the point where usually it is the ui that matters to your preference.

To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

Kaspersky is the way to go in my opinion. Its light weight and easy to use and their rescue disk stuff is really robust for a free product.
