my system as stand is:

i5 4460

gtx 1070 (founders)

8gb ddr3

256 gb Samsung 850 Evo

1b Wd Blue

My question. is it worth the upgrade to 16gb of ram. im not gonna upgrade my cpu/motherboard for at least a year or two. I already have both of my ram slots full so if i upgrade im buying a full 8x2 kit of ram. Thats 60ish USD. Is it worth doing? i cant decide. thanks for the opinions ahead of time

running virtual machines in the background while gaming on AAA titles would require 32 gigs of ram and at least a 6700k

what i meant was that if he did that, 16 gigs still wouldn't be enough

I wouldn't upgrade as you won't notice much difference. Best upgrade you "could" do is getting a Xeon 1231 v3. It'll give you four cores with hyper-threading. But I would just wait to upgrade to a new board in two generations.

I would say yes. The gaming standard is always rising and for certain games 16 is good. Also try to aim for DDR4 if your board supports it.
