Building a Q6600 rig, what graphics card i can partner with this CPU?

I'm about to build a pc that does not contain a Core I-series and rather  going backwards to Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 gHz and please help me on what graphics card i should buy for it, here's my spec list. 

CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 LGA 775

Fan : Akasa K25? or better  

Graphics card? - Maybe a 650ti Boost SLI? 

Mobo: Maybe a ROG Maximus Formula DDR2 ? i need a Mobo that supports Overclocking and SLI but in LGA 775 socket
RAM : 2 x 8 GB = 16gb RAM DDR2 Corsair Low-Latency Ram
HDD: 7200RPM 2TB Western Digital Black
SSD:   Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120gb 
CPU CASE BLACK AND RED OR WHITE AND RED 

 

Budget 300-400 $

and also the best motherboard that i can fit in there, i already have the idea for the SSD and the mechanical hard drive, i just need tips on what fan, graphics card and Mobo i should buy so that my budget will be in good shape.

When I had Q8300 (2.6Ghz) with DDR2 and old mobo it bottlenecked my GTX760. So i dont recommend SLI solution for such old architecture.

obviously your only logical option here is to go for the gtx titan xp sli, or if yur not feeling that ballsy may I ask what kinds of games you will be playing at what reesolution and at what framerate.

Imma try GTA 5 at 60fps and Assasin's Creed Unity at 60fps or higher, and in 1080p resolution. and shall able to play games 2014 backwards with high settings, 1080p and 60fps

probably either a 1060 or an rx 480 if you want max settings, their are some of the best bang for yur buck cards out there, I personally have a 1070 after saving up for it all summer mowing lawns. But if yur not trying to hit max settings everything, then yeah the rx 470, or maybe the 1050 if thats out by the time you buy, althouhg some settings will need to be turned down to achieve constant 60

might I add that If you get the 480 or 1060 you can overclock your monitor a bit, maybe to ~75 hz, although this varies by brand, and product, If you want to theres guids on how to do it.

Ok actually i had an idea of testing my 1080 first with this baby (q6600) then have an idea of what will it look like on lower models such as 1060's or 50's

My recommendation would be something along the lines of a 750 Ti since it's a known value and you aren't going to be pushing a GPU much faster than that in any case. Also, while the RX 460 is faster by a fair bit, the 750 Ti is still a better balanced chip for the build in the long run. It pairs well with the CPU too.

I've got two Q6600 CPU's myself and would love to do something with them.

Where'd you get your LGA775 Socket motherboard? That's all I really need, but they're either impossible to find, non-overclockable, or expensive.

Here in the Philippines it's almost everywhere, those LGA 775 Mobos that is being selled in here are almost free ranging from 20-30 USD (1000 PHP-4000 PHP)

 

I saw ROG Maximus Formula DDR2 LGA 775 Overclockable Mobo that support SLI or maybe crossfire for like 25 USD, and a Gigabyte DDR3 LGA 775 for like 30 USD, but not overclockable and does not support SLI.

 

Here in the Philippines, most people have their computer scrapped (even though it's working) they sell it in a very low price thinking that it's pretty much useless anymore haha, that's why it is priced like that.

380/x, 960, 950, rx 460/70/80 or even a 1060... So many options. If you get a more powerfull card and get bottlenecked, reduce cpu intensive options and add graphical goodies. Or try to oc the shit out of the CPU... Go balls to the wall crazy. You cannot go wrong. Worst thing it can happen? You under utilize you GPU which means it will run cooler and quieter... Oh dear... How can you live with that?

You should try and find a dirt cheap Asus P5E3. This is what I have https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5E3_DeluxeWiFiAPn/ 

It's got great overclocking, and also allows DDR3 1066 up to 1600 if overclocked. People will say DDR2 to DDR3 won't make much of a difference. But I went from DDR2 8gb on one board, to this one with 8gb of DDR3 with everything exactly the same, and I got an instant 15% FPS improvement in games

But otherwise I'd just something like an RX 460 or 750ti. Anything much better will be bottlenecked by the CPU no matter how much you overclock. I had a Q6700 paired with a GTX 960 SCC from EVGA, and almost all the time, my GPU usage wouldn't get above 60% because my CPU would hit 100% quite fast and ruin the overall experience.
