Depends what fps is ok for you. The 1080 is very fast, but still no 4k card for me.

Unless you're willing to drop $5k on a 4k monitor the max amount of fps for an affordable monitor is 60. 

 

With thy that said the 1080 can hit 60 FPS in most games.
