You also have to spend extra for a z170 board, really for most tasks you will get about the same performance from the locked i7, so really it isn't worth it unless you really like overclocking.

This is my first PC build so i haven't overclocked anything yet, and i don't know if i want to, it's going to cost extra just to be able to

Yeah overclocking is worth it. Free performance at the cost of heat

Any gpu can be overclocked, but if you're asking whether spending more to oc a cpu is worth it, then it won't be. Overclocking only gives a decent benefit in benchmarks, cpu bound apps like some video encoding and editing applications and if you're bottlenecked (which you won't be for a long time).

 

So unless the act of overclocking your cpu to see how far you can push it appeals to you then you'd be better served by getting a locked cpu.

I'm looking at a H110m right now for $109 Aud and a Z170 for $209 Aud, i'm struggling seeing a major difference between the 2

 

Could anyone shed some light on good mobo's and what makes a good mobo (Yes i understand if it fits everything i need i should be good)

Also i'm getting a RX 480 and a Intel i7-6700k so i would like something with some overclocking capabilities (if not that'll be fine i can always change from a 6700k to a 6700)

Z170 is for overclockers, h110 is not.

H110m is way older than Z170 hence the huge price leap.  Z170 also has the ability to overclock your CPU.  And a Z170 board will have newer features like type-c possibly.

Tbh why would you consider anything less than z170 for a 6700k? you are already putting a lot into a cpu might as well get a good mobo too
