So.. I'm going to buy a new computer at the end of this year and I will get something about 1000USD. So do you think i should wait for the Zen or go with some Skylake/Kaby Lake? I would like to save as much money as i can for new monitors and other stuffs for the new room as a chair, table etc. And price? What do you about Zen prices, will they be high like intel(at least it's high for me :D)?

It's tricky.  Zen won't be coming until 2017, and we don't know around what time for sure.

If you can get parts really cheap that it wouldn't hurt to pay to replace them later, go for it.  Otherwise, wait.

The Zen release at the end of 2016 is going to be very limited, wider release will be 2017 Q1 or Q2. Everything is up in the air as far as what will be released. It really depends on what you want to do with your computer and how long you can wait. Keep in mind there will ALWAYS be something 'better' on the horizon, so even if you wait for Zen in 2017, Intel could have something 'better' a few months away.

ZEN!!!

As I have said before we need AMD to obtain money for R&D so they can compete again.

I would sacrifice +15% Performance/Effiency If I had to chose between Intel or AMD.

We don't want a monoploy equivilant.

Guess no one want that, as a customer i would like to choose between something, not just things from one company.

Guess i will wait for Zen until February, if it's not realeased until February, i guess i would go with Skylake/Kaby Lake. Thanks for your opinions!

Btw, Kaby is not expected to release until Feb either (for desktop, anyways). And even when it does, current info tells us that it's just going to be Skylake with higher clocks. If you are going to wait just to get current tech, might as well buy the thing now and be happy with it. 5 months is still a long ways to come.

I'd just get a Skylake/Kaby Lake system as recent leaks put Zen CPUs around the same performance per clock of Intel's Haswell CPUs so Zen is looking to come out about 2-3 gens behind Intel.

I'm also concerned about shortages with Zen as I'm sure there will be a lot of excitement over something new from AMD so I can see there being shortages and inflated prices for a couple months.

This is the worst reason to support a company. Trust me, intel doesn't want amd to go belly up either. Anti trust laws could split intel up to create two competing companies, unless they could pull a Microsoft (highly doubtful since they were already caught using dirty tactics to suppress amd once).

Consumers should support products that meet their needs, not giving charity to a company that's struggling to compete.

That said, I really hope Zen is competive enough to stand on it's own. It should be enough to keep amd afloat.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
