So was thinking of something Luke could test that might actually yield some results besides "oh it doesn't matter much" ( xD ) and thought about how much motherboards affect OC, I realize this would likely be a pain and time consuming but I figured it was a decent enough idea to mention it, and I haven't seen you do a video like that before (though correct me if they did a while ago I haven't watched much stuff from more than a year and a half ago)

 

Another hitch is I think that you'll need an enterprise version of windows if you want quick swapping of the OS without issue, but you may already have this for obvious reasons.

I don't know how much they matter for simple OCes but for LN2 and heavy OCes having stable power delivery is key. I know a cheaper $70 didn't OC nearly as well as a $200 board

So basically, long term OC benchmarking, including stock heatsinks, air cooler (hyper 212....probably) and water cooling, MAYBE something better, and find out where the law of diminishing returns kicks in, with the only thing being changed being the motherboard?

From my experience I had my 4670K for 2 years OCed at 4.6ghz. Before I upgraded to the 6800K it was blue screening and would only be stable at 4.2ghz-4.4ghz.

You should bring a guest to help do the testing and video for this particular idea: Wendell formerly (or currently? who knows) from Tek Syndicate. He should be able to really dig deep and help out.

 

Also maybe JJ from Asus but most people would cry bias if that was the case though.

Well it wouldn't be bias if they were comparing only ASUS boards to one another just to see how things like power phase affect OC, granted it turns the video into more of a sponsor spot to whomever wants to help but it would test the main idea
