ouch..:/ my HD 7950 died because for whatever reason the FAN's stopped spinning an it was running on a permanent 120°C without shutting down or anything..

If you boot the PC now you simply have a black screen.. one out of 20 bootups it starts normally and works just fine.. looking good on my shelf tho..^^ - Not sure if i should try "cooking" it.

if one fan was spinning then it would have been enough to save your card :/

I have a 7950 with only one fan spinning unless the fan percentage gets to 100% and well at 85% fan speeds and a single fan underload, the temps only get to 80C which isn't bad eh? :P

No it's not...it's just as hungry as hawaii and GK110 with the 980ti drawing (under a gaming load) basically the same amount of power...

(note I said gaming, not stress)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

id expect at least a 50 to 75w more power draw than the 980ti. thats why i gave up on desktop gaming... all my used PCs i built draw way too much power, racking up our electricity bill. so now im gaming only on a laptop

Look at my post ;)

I'm sure that's enough to prove that yes stressed, fiji is more powar hungry but in gaming scenarios, they are just equally as hungry...

and you know, you can undervolt the Fury, which will result in same performance but significantly less power draw! Google it, "Fury undervolting". In some tests, Power draw reduced from 279W to 210W.

ewww.. Quick question.. so i was reading alot of reviews on newegg, and they were all positive, and they claimed there was no or almost no coil whine at all.. so i wanted to order the exact same one.

newegg lists it as:

Model: 100379NTOC+SR

While here, all seem to have:

Model: 11247-03-40G

is the newegg one the model name, and the other one the model number? It looks like it's the same card, but i am not sure..

It is the same card :D

I guess the model name on the newegg one might be their own? :P (as if you search the non-newegg one, it comes up with the fury nitro)

So i ordered my Fury for 299€ incl. Shipping now. Think it isn't a bad deal - only want to have the GPU till there are good Vega Custom Models out.

The GTX 1070 is pretty nice, although expensive still good perf/dollar. If you can afford it it's the best option right now. I got one myself cause i need  the grunt to drive my 4K screen. It's a nice card, cool and quiet.

I would rather buy a RX 480 than a R9 Fury mainly because of the VRAM. Especially looking into the future. The RX 480 is pretty good with DX12 and Vulkan. And will get some nice performance upgrades through drivers in the future.

So it comes down to resolution of your monitor. Assuming 60FPS:

GTX 1070 kills 1440p and can do 4K

RX 480 kills 1080p and can do 1440p

Pick your poison.
