Installed new GPU, now monitor won't show anything

Some interesting reading about the topic. I cannot confirm nor the deny the findings, because I have not personally tested myself. But it looks a lot like your scenario.

They recommend a Motherboard update if there are any for your specific Motherboard.

This seems like the problem, a power efficiency problem, that is not available in PCI-E 1.0 That my 7870 requires...well...that's the conclusion I guess, thank you all for helping me finding a conclusion! :D
