Best PC I can build with $2,000.

AndyKala

Just wondering what I can do with $2,000 for a gaming PC. I could use a gaming PC refresh, and I have $2,000 to work with. The money also needs to include peripherals, and monitor.

I just made this build for someone else but you could change it a little bit if desired for maybe a 1440p monitor (personal choice) or 1080

CPU and X99 is WAY to overkill. This build is for gaming xD. It's a good build though.

I picked the monitor not because of the FreeSync, but because it is 2560x1440, IPS, 144Hz.  GSync monitors of equal caliber cost $800.

The keyboard and mouse you can change on your own.  I picked good units, so it is a good start.

The mobo and power supply can supprt a second GTX 1070 if the need should ever arise.

They are grey market keys most of the time.  Keys bought in bulk for businesses/schools/groups that are resold.  I don't think they are truly legit, but MS won't always know.

I don't think the GTX 1070 is strong enough for 144hz 1440p. I am better of getting a 1080p 144hz monitor.

Yeah I can agree but for me I went x99 bc it was the newest platform at the time and has great upgradeability and bc of the more pci-e lanes which will come in handy when I sli in a few months

The 1070 is definitely strong enough.  Some games will run lower FPS than the max refresh rate, but most games will easily run at 100+ FPS.

Not at QHD. Even 1080s struggle for 100+ FPS at resolutions above 1080p.

It depends on what games you play.

Most games will run above 100FPS.

The ones that do not can have setting turned down, or you play at roughly 60FPS.

Monitors last longer than GPUs.  So in 2-3 years when all the new cards are out, you can upgrade the GPU and keep benefiting from the higher resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

Guys I was thinking something like this http://pcpartpicker.com/list/9qW7RG.

Bad idea:

1.  Hyper 212 is loud and there are much better options.  The H5 I had will wipe the floor with it.  The H7 and Pure Rock are better equivalents.  The Pure Rock was on sale for $25 on Newegg.

2.  Slow RAM on a high end system.  I can explain why the extra $10 for 3000MHz RAM is worth it.

3.  Reference 480s, in Crossfire... where to start... overclocking results in overdraw fromt the PCI-E slots and they are hot and freaking loud.

4.  You pick a more premium SSD when you won't be able to tell the difference between it and a lower priced MX300.

5.  ...and the TN 1080p panel to finish.  Are you a CS:GO pro?

Crossfire and SLI are bad choices in general. Get yourself a GTX 1070 with a G-Sync monitor and don't look back:
