Hello there, so im in the later planning stages for my girlfriends computer.

She's getting back into gaming after really only ever playing on a gamecube, so I didnt want to put alot of money into something that she may just use on occasion.

Im currently gathering some older parts that I had laying around

current parts

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-v lk

CPU: Intel i5 3570k

Cooler: stock

Ram: mismatch of 1600mhz 16gb

I would appreciate any suggestions on a better cooler, graphics card, psu, and peripherals (mouse, keyboard, headset, .etc)

please keep in mind that she wont be playing too many games and the most strenuous would probably be borderlands the pre sequel, and im aiming for a mid size computer

Picture below of its current state

Thanks for your help.

List full specs

lol way to read the post.

Anyway I would probably recommend a 460 (cheap yet very usable). Thermaltake makes an aweome 30 dollar keyboard and mouse combo that is great if you just want something that has back lighting. It feels okay as well. I think its the commander set. I cant remember for sure. Any 400 watt power supply should be fine as long as its 80+ certified. A lot of people will argue the psu point but honestly for a budget build as long as you arent buying a 15 dollar psu you should be just fine. I wouldnt worry about a cpu cooler if you arent overclocking.

psu- get a good 500w unit- any more is overkill for a i5+ low end gpu but any less of a psu and you probably have much worse unit or you are not saving much money.

cooler- get like a $20-40 air cooler or a used one for cheaper that is about that price

peripherals- multiple good kbm combos are one the market for less then $40

gpu- unless you are ok with spending over $100 on a new gpu then get a used one on craigslist or something- most of the new gpus under 100 are bad price/performance.

Stock cooler is fine, save up on that. Still want one, then CM 212 EVO. GPU, a RX460 or RX470. PSU at least 80Plus Bronze. from good known brands and a Hybrid HDD.

get a gtx 1060 then, just a 4gb version, nothing extreme. For the peripherals, get the cooler master cm storm devestator combo (the 40 dollars one, it has a mem-chanical [i think it's called that] keyboard which is a mix of membrane and mechanical cherry mx switches that are cheaper and still compatible with the cherry mx keys that you could switch on.
