So let me start by saying I like icons on my desktop. A lot of them. But I also like a clean look. For that reason I use folders. Is there any way that I can get the folders to look and behave more like android folders?

Have a look into things like Rainmeter. They allow you to do a large amount of customisation to your desktop.

there's rainmeter, and there's also rocketdock which is unfortunately hugely, hilareously outdated

(although, when i messed with it on win10 preview it still seemed mostly functional)

 

there's also stardock objectdock but for being paid software it almost shocks me their website (and appareantly the application itself) hasnt changed since i last went there on my brand new windows 7 rig running an i3 560, 4GB ram, and a HD5770. 

 

and unfortunately, it seems like everything on alternativeto.net is either adware, discontinued, or not for windows.
