Nop. Xeons can't change the multiplier.

There is such as thing as base clock overclocking if the motherboard supports it, but it is not recommended.

If you want to overclock then buy a k CPU.

For a cpu, what cores and clocks are you looking for?

atleast 3.2, i want it to be around the price of an 6100, and atleast 4 cores, it can have dual, but needs multi threading like the 6100

i want to overclock the e5 2670, idk if u can overclock server cpus, but the cores/multithreading would be great. if it can, what is max clock i could get, and could an cyroic c7 work (only trying to clock to around 3.2)

You could bclk oc them to get about 5-8% higher clockspeed with 15% being the max I have seen, but it will effect your ram speeds so you will have to downclock it most likely. So 3.2GHz on it is possible, but most likely it will be 3-3.1GHz.

Really the e5 2670 isn't worth it anymore unless you can find a 2011 motherboard for $175 (good luck), and the chip for $50, or go for a dual 2011 system, which has the same multithreaded performance as a 5960x, and they are only good when all 16 or 32 threads are used.

When more then 4 cores are used the turbo goes to 3GHz.

Linus, was able to do it, but only .5 ghz boost. and its very complicated and requires an asus board and extensive testing.

That was most likely lga 2011-3, Linus has not done a video on the e5 2670 which is a sandybridge 8 core on lga 2011. Bclk overclocking just involves downclocking ram if that becomes unstable, beyond that it is just like regular overclocking. No complicated testing or asus board required.
