Upgrading my rig

Hello everyone. I am new here, and i would like some help upgrading my pc.

Current specs

  • CPU: I5-2500, 3,3 GHz LGA 1155
  • Motherboard: H61M-P23
  • GPU: Asus Strix 970 4GB
  • System drive: SSD 850 EVO 250 gb
  • Storage: Generic HDD 500 gb
  • Memory: 2x4GB 1333 MHz
  • CPU fan: Hyper 212 EVO
  • PSU: 630W

The power supply might be faulty, since my PC crashes when i play games and my GPU is over 70% Power. At 100% power on full load i get around 70 oC, but the pc just crashes and reboots after a while.

Upgrades

  • CPU: I5-6600 Skylake LGA 1151
  • Motherboard: MSI B150A Gaming Pro, or MSI Z170-A PRO | As i am not overclocking should i chose the B150A? |
  • GPU: Asus Strix 970 4GB
  • System Drive: SSD 850 EVO 250 gb
  • Storage: Generic HDD 500 gb
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance Lpx 16GB 3000MHz DDR4
  • CPU fan: Hyper 212 EVO
  • PSU: Corsair VS550 550W

Also a new case either NZXT S340 Midi tower, or Corsair Spec Alpha.

Also i don't plan on overclocking at the moment. I am mainly looking for something stable (that doesn't crash when i play games), that runs the components well.

Currently i got 600$.

And FYI i am from Denmark.

Rig is for gaming.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all of the tips. I think i am going to wait for Black Friday since we have that in Denmark now aswell.

B150 does not support overclock. Go with i5 6600 non K or get Z mobo

Also look for 1060 or 1070 instead.

You sure about just 8GB of RAM

Yeah, going for 16 gb is only like 20$ more, and i do always multitask a lot. And i don't have the money for a new GPU. The I5-6600k only costs 10$ more then the I5-6600

First things first you are planning to get unlocked processor with a B150 motherboard.

If you are not planning to over clock get an i5 6500.

Get any 80 plus rate 600 watt with the specifications you want

Get a better GPU if you are planning to do some 1440p gaming but if you are still at 1080p the 970 would suffice

Go with the z-170 if your gonna go with a K cpu, 8 is ehhhh but it's easily upgradeable later on, I'd go with a 650 psu. And I'd recommend you save up for a 1070 ??

edit: a nzxt s340 is a great case for the money and id recommend to anybody

If you are planning ti play on something like 1440p, you should consider getting a 1070 or something. And the  650 PSU is somewhat an overkill for this 350W build, but I put it in there because it was coming under budget 9_9

I could go for around 500W PSU, since i don't overclock.

I found this instead:

Corsair VS550, 550W PSU

At least 85% efficient (80 PLUS White 230v EU Certified)

This is better and would be adequate for you.

Corsair CX500  80 PLUS Bronze

P.S. Corsair VS550 has no 80 PLUS Rating
