Best setup for gaming & video editing/rendering

I saw Linus' video on the Intel Extreme Rig Challenge.

Someone built a two motherboard in one case with water cooling.

 

But if you only had one mobo, cpu, gpu setup what would it be?

I think you could only go for a 2011-v3 setup with the best cpu, and figure out your gpu needs.

 

I was thinking about his yesterday, is it better to have 2 cpu's then it is to have just one high speed cpu.

I know most, if not all, games love high speed frequency cpu's and the most the is really needed is an i5.

But lets say for one o/c'd cpu setup, you get 5GHz. The other setup, the two cpu setup, you rock both cpu's at 4Ghz.

Both have the same gpu.

Then what difference is there in gaming?

the point of these split systems is IMO to have everything you need in one case, but if your only browsing and doing easy stuff, you don't power on the beast, but only a media system to save energy and being "reasonable".
