So since I ship on average 1 item/week I opened a FedEx account and it's saved me quite a bit of money.  Shipping a PC from PA to New Mexico insured for 1300 dollars cost me 42 dollars.  Well I shipped my GTX 480 awhile ago to Indiana for $21.31 insured for 200.  I just shipped my HD 7950 to Illinois (further distance) for $14.16 also insured for 200.  I found out there is literally no rhyme or reason for their charges.  It has to do with gas prices, distance between main hub and destination, how much truck travel vs train etc.  Flordia is often very cheap to ship to because there are so many distribution centers that the distance between residents and centers is small.

So they're charging you for the actual costs, unlike some companies that have fixed prices? Be glad about that and stop complaining.

There insurance cost is also a volumetric calculation, so depends on the package size and value... so a small parcel with a value of 200 might might not be the same as a larger parcel with a value of 200

No it's just annoying that I can never get an accurate calculation to figure out what to charge people for shipping.

Try UPS, the last time I had something shipped by fedex, it toke 2 months and I will never ever use Fedex again. UPS always comes quick.

They destroyed a PC and refused to pay despite it being insured and I had to come up with like 600 dollars to fix it.  FedEx paid up when they destroyed a PC on me.

I'd rather trust Fedex considering USPS is a joke and UPS just leaves your stuff in the open without even trying to deliver.

Wow you guys have bad experiences I have never had any bad experience with UPS before must be my luck

UPS once charged me $40 on a $70 package crossing the border. USPS is what you should be using always.

They are worse with insurance claims than UPS...
