The problem is, I can't buckup all the data every week, it is just too much size. I don't need the old recording data.

Its probably going to fail when you need the recording. Id get rid of one drives capicity for some redundancy.

FOr a raid card, Id get a used dell h700 from ebay. There about 100 and much better than any other raid card for that price.

If you want new look up something like a lsi 9240-8i

Hello, I have a Storage server with security cameras. I have 2 WD Purple drives and I am planning on buying 4 or 6 more, I need a RAID card to make a RAID 0.

Which Card do you recommend me? data rate is not important, with a maximum 10MB/s is enough.

I been looking at these https://www.amazon.com/SAS9211-8I-8PORT-Int-Sata-Pcie/dp/B002RL8I7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473121575&sr=8-1&keywords=lsi+raid+controller

But there are a lot of different models, I don't know what to pick.

Thanks

raid 5/6. Id suggest using something like a synology nas. Much easier and will just work.

But I don't need the error correction feature on RAID 5, it uses a lot of space. I need maximum capacity, only RAID 0 gives me that

But if one drives fails, you lose all your data. You don't want that.

RAID 5 isn't that bad for space, you only lose 1 disk worth of space. RAID 6 is 2 disks. RAID 0 sure is 100% space efficient but unless the data is temporary or backed up multiple times a day is actually rather a useless RAID level.

What server? Custom PC

Specs?: Intel Core i7 4770 - 16 GB Ram

What drives?: Western Digital Purple

What OS?: Windows Server 2012 - I could install Windows 10 if RAID card is not compatible with Server 2012

Whats slots do you have open?: PCI / PCI Express

Do you want to be able to expand it later: No

I need 8 SATA ports

Is the server running Windows? If so, you can always software RAID them. This is also known as "disk pooling" and works quite well if you just want maximum storage by treating all the drives as one massive drive.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply. My motherboard doesn't have enough SATA ports so I would need a card anyway :(
