Looking for new laptop for senior year HS and college

My budget for this laptop is MAX like $800, $850 would be pushing it. I've been considering these two laptops on newegg, but I'm not sure if there are better options.

PLEASE, no comments about how much better a desktop would be, or links to a better pcpartpicker build. 

Also, I have considered the Dell Inspiron 7559, but the cheaper option on amazon that's $779 only has an 256gb ssd, and come on, how is that remotely enough for gaming? 

My requirements are an i5, doesnt have to be current gen, atleast 8 gigs of ram, but I would appreciate 16 gigs, 1tb of storage, and it would be nice to have an ssd, but not needed, and a 960m, 2gb or 4gb. It also needs to be under 5.5 lbs

grab a cheep chromebook and build your self a desktop for gamming.

The one you picked is good. I doubt you could find anyyhing better than a 960m for that price even pushing to 1000$

I'd go with the MSI. You can buy a drive caddy for about 20 USD and a +240GB SSD for the primary OS drive after cloning. It'd be the best bang for the buck. And it does have an M.2 that isn't populated if you want to go that route. It comes with 1x8GB RAM.

I don't want a desktop. I am planning on joining gaming clubs in college and going to lan parties and friends apartments/dorms to play games together.

I would get the MSI and there's actually a 275GB SSD from Crucial (MX300 M.2) for 80 that will maximize your budget if you'd like.

Also, you could have used a smaller ITX board and case. The 470 has no price and the 1060 6GB Mini from Zotac is a much better choice.

I do, but it's old as what. It has an AMD Athlon II X2 240 dual core at 2.6 ghz i think, i have 6 gigs of ram, a radeon hd 7770 thats refurbished and makes my screen flicker randomly, and crashes in intensive programs, a 1 tb hard drive, and a 240 gig SSD that i salvaged from an old system of my sister's. I'm also not taking it to college, because its more of a family computer, and it stays hooked up to the printer, and its used whenever a guest needs to use the computer, or print something out.

If you'd like to make a new rig out of it we can always help. But since you're going to college being mobile is more important once you get to ENC 1101/02, sciences, and humanities since those'll kill your personal time.

Actually i already took ENC 1101, and I'm taking ENC 1102 right now, so I won't need to take them in college.
