fiber optic toslink 5.1?

hi im running a gigabyte g7 170z gaming mother board to Panasonic home theater system and i have tryed all settings i know of but i can get the back speakers to produce sound when runs the sound test and in game and music it comes out the front L and R speakers any ideas ????

I'm not sure about the sound test, but you can't have surround sound if the game isn't set to it. Usually you can set a game between speakers, headphones, and surround sound. I would try messing around there and seeing if that makes any difference.

And many times games dont have propper support for surround using optical. 

 

But should work in sound test.

A few things to consider. Make sure the sound device is in 5.1 mode as it will default to stereo. Also important to note that toslink can't support 5.1 pcm so you need DTS/Dolby encoding from the card and decoding on the other end.
