Can someone explain Z-RAM?

Hello, so i have a project in school including Z-RAM. I have no idea what it is and can't find a good answer online. If anyone would be able to explain it to me i would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

This is all of the very first google page when searching for Z-RAM:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zram

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Zram

https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/blockdev/zram.txt

https://wiki.debian.org/ZRam

Seriously, this is why lmgtfy should be allowed. Nothing wrong with shaming laziness.

I deal in shitposts and shitpost accessories.
