Hello, I was wondering if somebody could help me design a logo for a business. The old one has been around for about 30 years and needs to be updated in order to look good on a google profile and desktop backgrounds on all of the computers. I am good with photoshop,m but have no creativity to speak of :P, and I would like something the goes along with the original color scheme.

Here is the current logo from the side of the building:

(Don't know if this is allowed to be posted here, so mods please let me know and I will just pm it to people)

You could do something like this font:

http://www.dafont.com/zero-athletics.font?sort=date

And maybe make it like.. sideways, like italics and making the AC part the red in the current and the Delco part the blue on the logo.

Furthermore, you could transform the A and C into for example a mascot, because from the original logo I'm kind of getting a falcon (bird) vibe from it.

The ACdelco part is a different logo, for a different company that will have to stay the same, But I was thinking a font like gentona that is white with a black outline or something.

but, as you can see I have zero creativity:

Maybe try to make the G over to lines, stretch the g a bit and then use some colors/ metal textures?

EDIT: or make a metal background and "burn" the words into the metal (dunno how much effort this is, would be a cool desktop background, for the shop sign maybe sth more simple)

There is an ancient ration that is quite common going back to the Pyramids, major corps use this ratio in their logos, and advertisers use it too.

Google it because I cant remember the name of it nor the ratio.

Plus colors are important, red, yellow and green I believe. Grocery stores use them in there pricing labels.

Any Suggestions on how to make it better? It just seems like it is missing something.

It's missing some colors and it has too much dark colors. Anyways, looks pretty alright, depending on what you are gonna need this logo for. If you ever need to have this logo in black and white, it will look way different.

Ok, I brightened it up and made the text 3D. It will probably work good enough for what I need to do.

One of my pet peeves is businesses that change their logos, or re-brand themselves.  Is your business that terrible that you need to con people into thinking you're new?

No, we are keeping the old logo on the building and if we did try and seem like we were new, we would lose a lot of customers. This is just to be the desktop background on all of the computers and mabye on the google business profile. Everything is still done on paper and we are switching to using management on computers.

There's a stark difference between a company that rebrands itself frequently (or after majorly bad publicity), and one that needs to update it's logo that was created before the modern digital age. The current logo might look fine on a sign outside the business, but that doesn't mean it'll look good on Google search results or online, or in many other situations.

I like it!

It looks a bit "cliche" and cheesy, but for an Automotive Repair shop, the cliche-ness actually kinda works in their favour.
