A good TV cable box interface?

So, the interface of my cable company's cable box sucks. Its slow and clunky. I was wondering if anyone knows of a small box that would allow me to bypass the cable box's interface with a modern user interface while providing me with some added functionality of streaming apps?

Windows Media Center + InfiniTV 6 PCIe.  6 tuners and fast guide scrolling. Channel changing isn't fiberoptic (uverse/fios) fast but manageable when you consider how much better the guide, 6 tuners, and unlimited DVRing is in comparison to the crappy cable boxes.  The M-Card fee is just $2 a month vs. $7per box that cable companies usually charge.
