1070 is about 3% faster 

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a last gen console for use once a year. I should answer most of the time between 9 to 3 PST

a heavily overclocked 980ti can beat a 1070, but at that point i would buy the 1070 for the lower power draw and newer tech. unless you can get a nice 980ti for cheap

Since the 1070 is cheaper and newer, and apparently faster, I'd say the gtx 1070

 When the 980 came out, the 780ti was pretty close to it, close enough to not warrent using step up... Well now it's comparable to the 970, soooo go with the 1070 it will have better driver support.
