Hello, these past few days have been a living nightmare for me. I recently bought a GTX 1070. I upgraded from the 560. It tooks countless hours to get the card to work, the solution was to go into my BIOS settings and change the rom boot from UFI to Legacy.

It worked perfectly fine and my card works like a charm. However my sound just disappeared in the process. It seems like the new NVIDIA drivers installed an audio one.

My sound card is the Realtek High Definition Audio. It does not show up in my sound playback menu anymore. Instead 4 HDMI ports show up, which are the ones from my card.

I have tried many things, such as uninstalling Realtek from the Device Manager and reinstalling drivers from their website. I have managed to isloate it which no other audio devices present but the Realtek one. It shows a small yellow exclamation mark under it and it says in the properties that it's a code 10, device cannot start and request is not supported.

Many people have told me it is a driver issue. I don't know how to fix it and I'm going insane, I'm going to post screenshots.

Thanks in advance, I'll be here all night. Willing to post more screenshots if necessary.

you should uninstall the drivers to your board and then reset your pc and then reinstall them

What is the HD PVR. If it isn't an accessory your using, the computer might be thinking your gpu is one (I could be completely wrong). I would uninstall that and see if it fixes the problem

The HD PVR is just a capture device that I use to record gameplay on my Playstation. Shouldn't matter.

Yes, do you want me to post a screenshot of it? Or do you want me to do something in that tab?

Try updating the drivers through there. Or you can go to the website for your motherboard and download the audio driver form there.

that wont fix the issue if the program is causing the issues something ive had problems with so its much easier to uninstall the program and drivers in one move and reinstall both at the same time.  And also doing that wont actually delete the drivers, and since he is one windows 10 it will do a automatic rollback to the current drivers which is what you want to avoid doing.

What program are you talking about??

If it doesn't show up in audio devices, then something is wrong with the driver.

Programs do not affect this.

yes that is correct.

So I just finished doing everything you did and it has not fixed.

After restarting my computer, I opened the setup.exe and it installed the drivers then quickly prompted me to restart my computer and so I did.

The Realtek drivers show up on  my control panel now.

But something else has shown up on my device manager and sound playback menu.

and the sound playback menu:

Clean_Install_zpseb9kthpl.pngok i suggest to reinstall your gpu drivers, that sould fix the problem it seems that windows is now detecting your audio device but its in conflict with your gpu audio so to fix that when you install nvidia drivers you have to check where it says clean install.
