This is BS right? (Asus VX24AH)

maxvons

Was looking at this monitor. Seems like a nice upgrade from my VS24AH. But I stumbled upon a review stating that it wasnt real 1440p? Seems like bullshit to me, but you never know.

Well the thing I see that's weird is it uses HDMI for 1440p. Which... it can do as of 1.3 (2560x1600@60Hz is the maximum) but I suppose that depends on what they other side can do. Every time I've plugged an HDMI cable into my 1440p+ monitors, it capped out at 1080p.

But if you have a GPU that support HDMI 1.3 or above, and you have the right cable. It should support the 1440p resolution right?

Should, but it also depends on the cable, and maybe what the software really cares about doing.

I ordered a HDMI 2.0 cable to go with it. Read somewhere that this monitor supports HDMI 2.0, so Im hoping it will work

My monitor came with its corresponding hdmi cable. Maybe you should wait until yours arrive to see if it's included.

It's just a software thing, The HDMI is not intended for resolutions beyond 1080p. It supports enough bandwidth for 1440p 60 Hz but usually displays will not report it as a supported mode to Windows, so it won't appear as an option in the display settings, but it will work if you set up a custom resolution for it.
