What program does Linus use to get the FPS digits in a game to the top right of the monitor?

Not sure about Linus in particular, but I use Steam. You can add non-Steam games to Steam to get those to have an FPS display. For anything that Steam doesn't work with (Vulkan and DX12) I use DXTory.

most PC and Game recorders have FPS overlay options Fraps, Bandicam, Playclaw and many others.

You can use MSI Afterburner to get all sorts of things on the screen.

Temps, voltages, clocks, utilization, ect, ect.

 

My favorite program to use for that.

OK well then if NVIDIA includes FPS overlay in its GeFroce Experience software, and Linus only ever uses NVIDIA, then I must follow.

 

I will check out MSI Afterburner as well.

Not sure about that but i use MSI Afterburner + Riva Tuner Statistics with Modern font and it look like this in games.

i use msi afterburner too and u can change font, size and colors and i had no problems with it at all

Yeah temps and ram usage would be cool to have too on overlay.

Does anyone know of a stand-alone FPS overlay without the game recording/card tuning/etc.?  Ideally something that is configurable to show a few lines of rig data you select, and perhaps allow you to change the appearance of the overlay (font/size/color).

As Stated, MSI Afterburner.

You don't HAVE to tweak your GPU (tuning) By default... the recording is Disabled, until you set a hotkey and enable it.

 

Use the OSD, set what sensors to show, and your done pretty much, then if needed, head to OSD options and change color and sizes.
