The wife just bought me a GTX1060 for my birthday and I want to see what this work horse can do. Everything I own can be played on ultra so I need some suggestions for games that can push the limits of this card. What is a graphical roller coaster of a ride that I can take now?

For reference this is an upgrade from a 780FTW

Ark: Survival Evolved is not very well optimized and looks great at high settings so try that, it might just destroy your 1060.

I put a high quality mod, extra foliage, better towns and surroundings mods on and my 1070 was chugging.

Show off to all your friends how your PC can finally play CS:GO in 1080p, but don't tell them that you still have to turn the settings down a bit to get 60 FPS.

Or you could just play Witcher 3.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

1060 is approximately equivalent to 980. If you really want to stretch its legs you should get a monitor at a higher resolution or higher fps, or try supersampleing if you think you have enough performance headroom. the 1060 is designed to kickass at 1080p @ 60hz

Current panel is 144hz. Some things I have thrown at it hit that. Simple things like Rocket League and such. Fallout 4 was hitting 60fps in the fog

If you have a 144hz monitor @ 1080p, your 1060 shouldn't be able to max out all games at max graphics. If you're having a hard time finding something for your GPU to go up against, then you just need to be turning up those settings. 144Hz is a high ceiling to hit at max graphics, even on a 1080p monitor.

You are not wrong. On most modern games it is going to be hitting 60fps it seems. There are some action games that I am willing to turn down to hit 120, though. Racing games in particular.

I think I need to add GTA V to my wish list now, though.

With an 1080 and i7-6800K I still dip under 60 outside on ultra :')

At 1080p? It can't be right, I'm mostly stuck on 60 FPS, I don't think it ever gets below 50 on an FX-9370 and 2x R9 280s. The GPUs themselves should do more than perfect scaling to match a GTX 1080, not to mention the CPU difference.

Or do you also go crazy with the filtering beyond what "Ultra" settings automatically do? My system seems immune to anything in Metro except filtering, I think I could max everything on one card alone as long as I remove all filtering :P
