I've got a 1080 and I've plunged in the second PCIe slot because my CPU cooler is massive. The second slot is a x8 slot compared to the first one which is a x16 slot. Is there any performance difference by doing this because I get 60Fps + at High or Ultra at 3440 X 1440 res on every game.

What motherboard/cpu do you have?

If you have a newer cpu and motherboard your gpu will be running at pcie 3.0.

Pcie 3.0 in x8 mode is plenty of bandwidth for your gpu, so you are most likely getting the most out of your gpu ;)

PCIe 3.0 x8 is as much as x16 2.0, which is more than enough.
