Thank you so much for the help, do you know what my pc would be running like with this in it ?

Better in any game that taxes the CPU. A lot better.

and does my gpu need upgrading?

Depends on how demanding you are. If you want max settings on every single game out there, yeah. But if you can live turning a thing down or 2 (and let's be honest here: you can), then you'll be fine for a while longer. Don't sweat about it.

Thats what i worked out im guessing yours will be better?

The 6th gen will always be better than the 4th, as far as performance goes. There's just no way around it...

No, it wasn't. In fact, I'd even call this overkill.

Sigh... I knew it. KNEW IT. We'd spend time planning a build and then have to throw it away. "the £90 doesn't matter now", as if everyone had money lying around, ready to waste it.

Look for an i7 4790k. For the mobo, any Z97 that fits your color scheme will do. You can pay extra for stuff like more USB if you want, but that's something you'll have to decide on your own.

Nope, that's the top end as far as DDR3 goes.

Now that's better. One of those would do. Though I wouldn't buy that Gigabyte mobo solely because I find it ugly. I would also not buy the Asrock one because I find it too expensive for what it offers. But if you like them, they will suit you just fine.

i was thinking the same about both of them ahah might find a better one for a better price. Will that cpu be able to run high settings? ive seen benchmarks for it and there pretty good by the looks of it

I am looking to upgrade my CPU and motherboard. I am looking at what would be the best choice of CPU and motherboard.

This motherboard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K8KPXUO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

With this CPU:        https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KPRWAX8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1AUCPBF2P18HS

Or one of these motherboards

http://motherboards.specout.com/l/6303/ASUS-B150-PRO-GAMING-D3

http://motherboards.specout.com/l/6300/BIOSTAR-Gaming-H170T

with this CPU

My current specs are:

Processor          AMD A10-6800K Quad Core APU (4.4GHz) & Radeon™ HD 8670D Graphics

Motherboard     ASUS® CROSSBLADE RANGER

RAM                  24GB DDR3 2133MHz

doesn't support ddr3 unfortunately

Ddr3 is not supported on skylake cpus, they have support for ddr3l, and ddr4.

Ddr3l is not ddr3 it is a low voltage version.

ddr4 is pretty cheap as well $30 for 8gb.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •
