You don't need a Z97 mobo and aftermarket cooler with non-K cpu. And any reason your sticking to a haswell? The price differences vs skylake isnt anything significant.

 

The GPU is too expensive, you can get a 470/480 for that price. There's 380x for $180 on amazon too. For OS you can get a key on kinguin or g2a for $28.

Get rid of the Z97 or get the 45X0K/46X0K CPU.

Add an A-Data SP550 SSD

Get the Windows key from Dealscube for less.

I would change the SSD to the 240GB or the GPU to the 470 if you want to use the rest of your budget now.

It looks good but I would recommend an SSD for your OS.

The Rosewill Quark is fully modular.

The Deepcool is less expensive and performs the same.

Change the board to a B170 or get the 6600K for 20 more.

I'd let him keep the Z170, it's only around ~$5 more expensive compared to the lowest H170/B150.

 

He should change his PSU tho: the Corsair CX450M is $49 on Amazon, 450watts is more than enough to power his whole system.

The 500w psu is cheaper though, and allows a little more room for future upgrades

It looks good. The T4 might be a tad too small for when you overclock (if you do) and the Kingstons are hit and miss in quality.

Except that specific 500W is shit and not really meant for gaming PCs. The CX greys are more reliable, semi modular and have all black cables.

You can get the CX550M or Seasonic S12II 520w for $58-60 if you're not comfortable with 450w. Or at least get this one: EVGA 500B

You can get the 550W version for $59 if you're not comfortable with the 450w. Or at least get this one: EVGA 500B

Ill just go with the 500B, I'm not a big fan of Corsair's Cx psu's (I'm kind of being a hipocrite by saying that though, my build has a 750m)
