Windows File System Question

Just wondering if anyone knows why FAT32 is the default for things like USB drives. I mean the option for NTFS is there and which is a better option to use, so... is it because of just old legacy code or something?

Not exactly "any OS" but I think you mean "most"

yeah, fat32 is just more universal.

Android does not support NTFS, thats why otg thumbdrives and microsd cards are in FAT32 format.

Mac OSx can only read NTFS drives, not write to them

Playstations and the xbox 360 does not support NTFS etc...

Large USB capacity drive and SD card uses exFAT, which is new, and support larger size than FAT32.

exFAT was introduce in 2006, but now you see it more, as large SD card, and USB flash drives are more affordable.

What do you mean by "permission problems"?

Fat32 Doesn't really have permissions, while NTFS does, so would you have to change permissions on a usb stick.
