Is this an active adapter?

I need an active mini displayport to dvi adapter for a 3rd monitor. And I was wondering is this one is active or passive?

Why do you need an active one? they are both digital, you should just be able to convert

If you want to use 3 or more monitors on an amd card you need to either use a displayport plug or use an active displayport adapter.

it doesn't always work, for some reason DP passive adapters on my old C2Q Dell Optiplex wouldn't work.
