if i'm building a PC for gaming and video editing

is it better for me to get 16GB of ram or will 8GB

be enough?

For gaming 8GB is fine, but with video editing 16Gb will help more.

For many games, 4Gb is the minimum, 8gb is recommended.

8GB is 'enough', but 16GB will help out. I would recommend it (or at least go for 2x4GB so you can get 2x4GB or even 2x8GB later on)

Screw everybody, 32GB. Let's goooooo.

Seriously, whatever amount you get, make sure it has good speed and timings and make sure you're in dual channel (if on mainstream platforms) or quad channel (if on enthusiast platforms). This means minimum two sticks to make up your total. It'll help for editing, and high speed & lower timings will help for the editing (and your gaming) as well.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday
