I added a small second monitor 60hz to my msi gtx 970 and my gpu temp is 60c right now, and fans are running what's going on?

when you plug in more monitors there are more pixals to render which increases gpu idle load and raises temps.

The guy above is correct, but I will tell it with proper grammar, and possibly a bit more explanation.

The more pixels that a graphics card has to render, the more work it has to do.  The more work it has to do, more processes will need to run to keep it cooler, which is why the fans are spinning, even at that temperature.

So i should be worried? or is there anything i need to do?

No need to be worried. If the temps rise too high then you should probably hook the second monitor up to your processor's integrated graphics (if it has them), but of course only if it's used for keeping Twitch chat windows open while you stream, etc.
