After listening to this album, literally all day, on repeat,

http://theenigmatng.bandcamp.com/album/hybrid-fantasy
(specifically the song CyberFunk, which is freaking AMAZING)

I had an idea for a game, that I think is amazing.

A cyberpunk, first person, parkour, zombie slaughterfest. Now, let me be clear, this would not be a survival game.

It would be more along the lines of Unreal Tournament. Arena combat, but instead of facing other players or bots, the main character faces ever-increasing waves of zombies. This might sound similar to "The Killing Floor", which I have never played, but this would be different (to what I have seen of that).

Instead of just gun play, the game would be more like the latest DOOM, with a focus on speed, but also focus on melee, and possibly style. or "fluidity", the ability to chain one kill from the next, extremely fast. The combat could be a mix of shooter mechanics, as well as more hack and slash style games (things like Bayonetta and Darksiders come to mind) but in glorious first person. With a definite "techno/cyber-punk" feel (neon everywhere, awesome new-retro-wave music, announcers/DJ's dressed like Daft Punk).

Imagine the sequel Tron movie, but with zombies, more fluid combat, a similar soundtrack, and guys dressed like Daft Punk as the DJ's / announcers.

Yeah, there would be a story, but there could also be a "map maker" style thing. Allowing for infinite replay value.

Multiplayer? I'm not sure how that would work. Maybe instead of having the players fight one another, put them into the same arena and see who can kill more zombies before the horde is depleted and needs to be reset.

Thoughts? It would definitely be PC only because a controller wouldn't have enough buttons for what I have in mind. You'd have buttons that perform certain acrobatic/aerobatic feats that are used in the combat. Not just button prompts like some "parkour" games.

I think it could be amazing.

Sort of.

But better. It has no survival mechanics (not that dying light really does to begin with), and is an arena style game with a focus on speed and style. Instead of being an openworld game that wasn't filled with enough content.

Note: I liked dyling light, but it wasn't long enough, wasn't complex enough (it wasn't a survival game, at all) and didn't like how you had basically ZERO choices in the story.

This is meant to be completely different, with a slightly similar playstyle (but possibly more complicated and faster paced)

Dying Light with a map editor

Still not even close to what I am thinking of.

Faster pace, not open world, no stupid survival drama, just arena combat like UT. The only drama you get is from other competitors. Who may or may not be in the arena with you, or just going through the same "Stage".

After playing no man's sky I want a more flushed out space exploration game (not elite dangerous since no planet exploration), since the concept is solid the execution however is sorely lacking

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ Tier Breakdown (My understanding)--1 Godly, 2 Great, 3 Good, 4 Average, 5 Meh, 6 Bad, 7 Awful

It's called Star Citizen.

Both Elite Dangerous and NMS are just budget Star Citizens, trying to cash in on the original Star Citizen hype.

Name one other game, based on space combat, where you can get out of a turret on your ship, and in FPS mode go board that ship you just disabled.

You can't, just Star Citizen.

Any way as for your game I think it could work but the zombies would be better suited if they were alien in nature or if the concept was a zombie like horde but used machines of some sort, plain zombies don't jive well in my head for cyberpunk

Think of it as a dystopian future. Everyone who isn't rich, is either a zombie due to pollution (or some such plot device) or poor, and forced to compete in said "tournaments" to entertain the rich.

Basically, Blade Runner, with gladiator vs zombie combat.

Mutant angle due to pollution works, the main issue with zombies is that they are becoming old hat, if you do your own spin it allows more distance between your concept and past ones.

Good suggestion.

This whole thing is just a mental exercise. If one of you wants to take it and make it, feel free to. I don't know enough about 3D design and game design to make a game.

yet....

Just remember, the point of this game is speed, or "fluidity" of combat. Your play should be extremely fast, with a lot of options for movement. Not just forward, backward, left, right, lunge-forward-left-right-backward, jump, but much more. More acrobatics and aerobatics. More.....jedi-like (in style of combat. Nothing to do with star wars at all.) Very fluid movement where one blow or block leads to others. It should be like a dance of death.

Starmade is so amazingly fucking awesome

the scale of the spaceships in this game is on a whole another level than star citizen, as is the freedom to do whatever you want unlike SC,

but they are different games and don't follow the same objectives

just to name a few others:

Planet nomads
Dual Universe
Lightspeed Frontier

Space Engineers
helios
