My local best store on earth has a few 1060s and 480s in stock. I figure why not grab a new card now, but still torn on the decision. Sure, the 1060 performs better, but the 480 still does very, very well. But, it is a reference card, which has me semi put off, but eh it could be fine? But it's basically EVGA SC or MSI Gaming X vs MSI Rx480 reference.

I'd say get the most powerful one regardless. And if that happens to be the RX480, then you can probably pick up some kind of aftermarket (ie Kraken G10 and H60) cooler later on down the line if it's too loud/hot for you.

Depends on how much you want to spend to be honest.

Only reason I am going for the RX480 (once custom cards come out) is because some of them are only $199.99

The price tag is more appealing on the 480 since the 1060 is $10 above the EVGA site price. $239 vs $269. Not earth shattering, but think of the dollar difference in terms of pizza or tacos.

You turn tacos and pizza into poop. A graphics card can last years.

Get the 1060.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

A difference of 30.00 puts price to performance either on equal footing or slightly in the 1060's favor.

Factor in the reference 480 problems with drawing too much power from the pcie slot and the choice becomes obvious.

As much as I love what the 480 accomplished, for 30.00 you're better off getting the 1060

Edit:

Besides pizza is being phased out and taco expansion slots only exist on server boards
